2021: ‘The year the UK’s solar Industry came of age’ according to Solar Energy UK. More rooftop solar was installed last year alone than across the preceding six years, with growing demand from businesses for on-site energy generation to cut energy costs and carbon emissions.
Record levels of rooftop, commercial-scale & ground mount solar were installed in 2021; 36% increase on deployment vs 2020, with c.730MW installed taking the capacity to 14.6GW. The rising capacity installation shows there is a ‘clear sign’ the UK will see ‘significant solar deployment’ over the foreseeable future.
